Relationship ocd

Relationship OCD , also known as Relationship Substantiation or ROC is a subset of OCD in which sufferers are consumed with doubts about their relationship. They question their love for their partner, their attraction to their partner, their compatibility with their partner, and their partner’s love for them. By Guy Doron, Ph and Danny Derby, PhD.


He was smart, good-looking, had a good job, and they felt great together. OCD can be a devastating disorder that wreaks havoc on a person’s life.

In my opinion, Relationship OCD is one of the most heart-breaking types of OCD. Relationship OCD is a common type of OCD , says Kristin Bianchi, Ph a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in treating anxiety disorders and OCD. Usually my patients come around to understand how OCD has impacted their lives in other ways outside of their relationship OCD.


When my patients understand how OCD demands certainty, regardless of the content of the intrusive thought, tackling their relationship OCD makes much more sense. Many relationships that are healthy and happy end when one partner continually analyses the relationship , leaving the other feeling angry around constant questioning of their love and commitment to the relationship. One thing that many people with OCD are frustrated by is difficulties in establishing and maintaining romantic relationships. Many people with OCD are single and those who are in a relationship or are married often report a significant amount of relationship stress.
